In its most simple form, the traditional online file locker business model is to allow anyone to freely download files but charge people for uploading. For the longest time, RapidShare, an extremely popular file locker, has bucked that business model by limiting people who download files to a certain download speed then requiring them to pay if they want to go above and beyond.
That has now changed. RapidShare has announced a switch to the traditional file locker business model. That is to say, RapidShare will no longer cap download speeds for people who download files stored on their service.
Rather, all bandwidth usage and storage space burden will be on the person uploading the content — the person who has a RapidShare account, free or paid. In the future RapidShare will use a classic hosting model which means that not only the storage space but also the traffic created will be paid solely by the owner of the file. The prices will not change. Yes, I too signed up based on my friend's suggestion.
He did not know about the policy change and was still enjoying the old G per month. I signed on and got the god damn 2. What kinda shit download limit is that? I wrote an email to them, no reply.
I'm paying money but still getting limits which are not reasonable. I will not pay for rapidshare anymore. I've been a rapidshare user for a couple years also, I'll be trying megaupload now, I hear they don't have a download limit for premium users. Ow well goodbye rapidshare its been fun but 80g a month is no good for me. Whats the point in having a 20mb connection and not being able to download all my xbox games. Me also just lucky I have extend account just before this crappy condition but my brother in law did not and now he ordered it for a YEAR so FU rapidshare all is going for MU I payed them for 10 GB per day.
Now they unilaterally changed the rules and cut the limit to 2,5 per day. They are simply fucking thieves and it is time to say that directly and without hesitation.
Don't believe in any "policy change" and please do not use such term publicly. It is a case of thievery and should be named as it is. I have been in rapidshare for three years.
In the past they limited each person for an amount of 25Gb every five days. Megaupload is much better, with unlimited download and their MegaManager software is awesome! Everybody should stop using RS but other alternatives like MU.
I used to download HD movies with reapidshare. With the new limit I need 3 days to download 1 movie. My subscription ends on 14 March and they have reduced my limit before I renew it is that legal? Free piracy? L O L Downloading for free what other companys spent millions to make? L AW s wherever are written digitaly or in papers I dont say i like it! The days are not over, and even so, it's about crappy services - and the continued decrease in quality.
I don't know what happened to these RS people, normally when your business flourishes you start to reduce prices and provide better services, these are the ABCs of a successful business, but obviously the reverse happened with RS, I think it is time for all of us to get rid of RS and get premium accounts with other alternative companies, and I am thinking megaupload.
For me, my account with RS will end next month and it's over, no renewal anymore unless it comes back to 10 Gigas per day. It is obvious that they are greedy. I will never again subscribe to rapidshare. Thank god for torrent sites.
Spread the news for MU links to all the forums. Its up to us to make a change. Rapidshare is a Nice Fucking Website. I think that rapidshare had no more current power on Body or rapidshare is trying to rape Megaupload. That why they reduce the download limit hopefully user wil buy the additional limit.
