Cleaning the Interior 1. Close the printhead access cover. Pull out the front access cover and lift it into the open position. Solutions: 1. Check the fuse 1 at the back of the printer: Problem: The printer does not print when the computer sends data. Solution: 1.
Solution: The Op. Problem: The files I send do not print the way I have the menu and front panel set. Problem: I am continuing to have paper exit jams. Solution: If you are using front feed, make sure that the front of the printer is flush with the edge of the table.
Solution: Make sure that the front-feed tractor covers are properly closed. The auto gap needs to be set at the thicker area of the envelope. To do this: 1. Try turning the printer off, then on again. If message persists, contact your service provider see Section 4. BAIL Bail motor not functioning properly.
Close it. D-RAM Try turning the printer off, then on again. Correct the jam and reload paper. Clear the paper jam see Section 2 and reload paper. FUSE Internal fuse has blown. Contact your service provider see Section 4. Turn the printer off and wait for the printhead to cool down, then try again. If the message persists, contact your service provider see Section 4.
Turn the printer off and wait for it to cool down, then try again. Press PARK to remove the paper from the print path, then clear the paper jam see Section 2 and reload paper. Check to be sure that the print server is properly installed and that the connection is secure. Check to make sure that the card is properly installed and that the connection is firm, then try turning the printer off, then on again.
Load a new stack of continuous forms. Check to be sure that paper is loaded in both paths. Determine which path is jammed, then clear the jam and reload paper. Check to be sure that the ribbon is not twisted: open the printhead access cover, remove the ribbon from around the printhead and reload it around the printhead and guides, making sure that it does not get twisted as you load it.
Remove the ribbon from the printer, turn the take-up knob counter clockwise in the direction of the molded-on arrows a few times, then re-install it see Section 2. If this does not clear the problem, try installing a new ribbon. S-RAM Try turning the printer off, then on again. WDT Watch dog time-out alarm. S and Canada only. This printer is initialized when the power is turned on or when the I-PRIME-N signal is input from the host side via the parallel interface.
When reception is impossible because the buffer is full, the BUSY signal is sent to request stopping of data transmission. LSI generates print timing and drive time. As shown in the drawing left, the stroke length up to the platen is different for each pin. The MPU is provided with the compensation table for each pin to make necessary compensation. According to the thickness of the printing medium, the print mode is compensated as shown in the table below:.
By comparing the target speed for each print mode with the actual current speed to change the speed instruction data, the motor speed is accelerated or decelerated to maintain the specified speed for each print mode. The LSI divides these edge pulse signals in accordance with the print pitch, and sends the IPT signal to provide dot-on timing and carriage position detection timing. The data from the LSI is processed by a specific register contained in the LF motor driver to measure the overdrive time and to change the phase.
Note: From the illustration above, you can see that the command and the command response are output at the same time. This is because the bit 0 to bit 3 of OPRXD are fixed so that the response can be returned before decoding the command. This circuit monitors the drive time using the HDALM signal interlocked with the overdrive signal of each drive circuit.
This cause the secondary coil 40V of the transformer to be short-circuited, causing an overcurrent to flow through the primary coil and making the AC fuse transformer assy open. The printhead is a spring charged 9-pin driving head using a permanent magnet. It is attached to the carriage, which moves in parallel with the platen.
Electrically, this unit is connected to the control circuits through the control board. The print wires fixed to each armature are thus concealed under the wire guide. When the coil is activated, the magnetic flux caused by the permanent magnet between the armature and the core is canceled to eliminate the attraction force.
The armature is driven in the direction of the platen by the force of the armature spring. The print wire fixed to the armature protrudes from the tip of the wire guide, strikes the paper through the ribbon and prints a dot on the paper. A thermistor in the printhead prevents burning caused by over-heating of the coil. Printing will then be intermittent or stop completely until the coil temperature falls below the limit value.
The spacing mechanism consists of a carriage shaft mounted in parallel with the platen, and a carriage frame that moves along the shaft. It is driven by a DC motor mounted on the bottom of the carriage frame.
Items included in the spacing mechanism are as follows:. The carriage frame, on which the printhead and space motor are mounted, moves along the carriage shaft in parallel with the platen. When the spacing motor rotates counterclockwise, the driving force is transmitted to the motor gear. As the motor gear rotates, the carriage moves from left to right. Mechanically, it is designed in such a way that for every revolution of the DC motor, the carriage frame moves 0.
At the same time the encoder disk rotates together with the motor and passes the sensor. Make sure that an equal number of paper holes are engaged on each tractor. If not, the paper will jam. Close the tractor covers and fine tune the position of the right tractor until the holes in the paper are centered on the pins, then push back the right tractor lock lever.
Position the continuous forms stack below the printer with no more than about 1 inch 3 cm offset 1. With the printer turned on, press SEL to place the printer off line. If there is a single sheet loaded into the printer, press LOAD to eject it.
If there are continuous forms in the parked position, the printer automatically pulls them into the print position. Load continuous forms on the tractors see page 19 and press LOAD to advance them to the print position. Press SEL to place the printer off line. Press LOAD to park the continuous forms. Load a sheet or form on the platform. Make changes in the menu settings using the front panel keys. The changes are automatically saved when you exit the Function Setting Menu and are retained, even when you turn the printer off.
